After several visits to Four Mile Bar and Cloot Drove I finally worked out the best strategy to photograph the Short Eared Owl. On some days I am told there were up to nine owls out flying together, the most I saw one evening was 3 together. My final visit a few weeks ago I sat on the river bank opposite the field with hay bales still there from last years harvest. After a while there was movement in the long grass and a lone Owl flew up to the bale, his eyes are still closed! On reviewing my shots I thought I had made an error with my settings but I understand he sadly has a problem with one eye as can be observed in some of the following shots. On one of the later shots I believe it is just possible to perhaps view a short ear.
