Cranes dancing at Willow Tree Fen

Buzzard at Cloot Drove

 Buzzard at Cloot Drove

Been on several trips this week to view the Short Eared Owls.  Walked along both banks of the Welland and seen plenty of owls hunting in the fields especially in the vicinity of the round hay bales. I am looking forward to going again soon on a dry afternoon I will sit on the bank close to the hay bales and hope to capture a good photograph.

Long Eared Owl at Deeping Lakes

 Long Eared Owl

The 2 Owls were in the same position as last time I viewed them at Deeping Lakes.  One with his back facing us at the front of the opening the other looking towards us from the back of the gap in the foliage.  Apparently one person thought they could see 7 Owls in the gap.

I also saw the Little Owl in his favourite tree along the river bank, I didn't manage to get a shot of him this visit.

Hare at Welney Wetlands

 Hare

Welney Wetlands was busy this week partly due to Countryfile on Sunday featuring the Whooper Swans.  On our 2 recent visits in December we were the only 2 people to join the Guided Hare Walk. This week was a little different there were 20 people on the walk.  We were all watching the Hare disappearing in to the distance when the guide told us to look behind us, we had all walked passed this Hare who sat motionless very close to our path.
